Sheriffs Adopting Sheriffs

Post Date:09/05/2017 2:05 PM
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Badger State Sheriffs’ Association (BSSA) and each of Wisconsin’s 72 Sheriff's Offices are taking this opportunity to assist sheriff's employees in Texas who worked to provide lifesaving assistance to area residents while their individual family and property suffered a major loss as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

The BSSA “Sheriffs Adopting Sheriffs” goal is to raise $10,000 for each “adopted” sheriff’s employee by October 1st. To reach that goal we need each sheriff’s office and every sheriff’s employee to help raise funds for our brother and sisters law enforcement professionals in Texas. Just $5 from each Sheriff and their employees in WI would raise over $65,000 add $5 from one other family member and we could raise over $130,000. Add all donations from our Wisconsin citizens and businesses and that amount would increase substantially.

We realize this is a major effort and request so please reach out to family, friends, and other businesses and groups you know who may want to offer a helping hand.

Please know that every dollar raised will go directly to these Texas law enforcement families in need; every dollar. During a time when so many are in need, let’s all make an effort to reach out and help our fellow brother and sister sheriffs and deputies in their time of extraordinary needs.

In 2012, Wisconsin Sheriff's raised over $40,000 to help four New Jersey Union County deputies that suffered so much personal loss while they attended to the needs of others, during super-storm Sandy.

We would like to do the same for our law enforcement officers in Texas. We will take cash or check, make checks out to the Portage County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, who are our proud partners in the effort. The memo line should read "Hurricane Harvey."

PLEASE consider a financial donation. Time is Critical.
