Senior Dining Site Meals

The Nutrition Program is for Portage County residents age 60 and over, and their spouses. A fully balanced meal is provided including coffee, milk, and a dessert.

Listed below are the locations, serving days and times of dining sites. All sites serve at noon. To make reservations, please call the number indicated for each dining site. Reservations are requested 24 hours in advance.

Join us for a nutritious and delicious hot meal. Meet old friends and make new ones. Enjoy educational and recreational activities and events that take place at the dining sites regularly.

Do you have special diet requirements? Ask your local Dining Site Manager.

Do you need a ride to the meal site in your area? Transportation is available.

Would you like to help at the site? Teams of volunteers are needed to set up, serve and clean up at the dining sites, to deliver meals or to provide rides for participants.

Cost: Your donation toward the cost of the meal will help the program to continue. The suggested donation amount is $3.50 per meal. The Nutrition Program is funded under Titles IIIC-1 and 2 of the Older Americans Act, county tax dollars, participant donations and by a grant from the United Way of Portage County.

Home-Delivered Meals

Home-delivered meals are available to the homebound elderly throughout Portage County. These meals are provided by either Meals on Wheels of Stevens Point for those living in the city, or the ADRC Nutrition Program for residents of Plover and rural Portage County.

Program aims?
Provide a friendly visit and safety check for participants when meals are delivered.    
Deliver a hot meal meeting 1/3 of the recommended daily nutrition for adults. 
Connect participants to other community services.

Who can receive Home DeliveHD Meals Wierzbared Meals?
Portage County residents age 60 or over, who are not able to prepare nutritionally adequate meals and have trouble leaving their home without assistance. Spouses and any disabled housemates are also eligible.

When do we deliver? 
Weekdays, between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Delivery days are route specific. Frozen meals are available for non-delivery days.

What about special diets?
Most special dietary needs can be accommodated, however, we must have a diet order from doctor.

Can't be home when meal arrives?
Be sure to let the Aging & Disability Resource Center know to cancel the meal at least 24 hours in advance. If there's no answer when a meal is delivered, we assume there is a crisis situation and we call the contact person or alert an emergency medical team.

Participants are asked to make a donation for the meals delivered. Everyone will receive a meal regardless of donation amount. We depend on donations to cover about 1/3 of the costs of delivering the meals. Although the program is also supported by Older Americans Act funds, county tax dollars, and a grant from the United Way of Portage County, these do not cover total expenses.

What happens if there is a storm?
We don't send our drivers out on days when roads are bad or when the schools are closed due to bad weather conditions. We encourage participants to keep a shelf-stable food supply
