Working Together to Improve the Public Safety Communications System

Communications Center Board

The Board

The Portage County Public Safety Communications Board was created by authority the Sheriff of Portage County.  The purpose is to engage Portage County public safety communications system users in a collaborative stewardship and continuous quality improvement effort relating to the Portage County public safety communications system.

The mission of the Board is to support, empower, guide, assist, and provide quality assurance in the operation and maintenance of the county-wide public safety communications system and the Portage County Sheriff's Office Communications Center, for the express purposes of championing public and responder safety, the protection of life and property, and promoting a prompt, reliable, interoperable communications system.

The Board consists of representation of every user of Portage County's public safety communications system, including every law enforcement agency, fire department, EMS organization, emergency management, county infrastructure experts, and many others.  The Board is not a governmental agency, but a collaborative effort by governmental agencies to work together to provide the very best service to the public and public safety responders across the County.

The Board normally meets on the fourth Tuesday of every even numbered month to collaboratively discuss and guide the public safety communications direction in Portage County.  Meetings are from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Sheriff's Office Training Room.
