Portage County Groundwater
Who is responsible for managing this precious resource, groundwater, and how?
Besides our own personal actions, it's the responsibility of the following people to manage groundwater for the public:
Agencies: federal, state and local agencies that play roles in managing the groundwater resource
Laws & Regulations: statutes, ordinances, and codes that determine what government, businesses, and individuals can and cannot do.
Portage County Groundwater Citizens Advisory Committee (PCGCAC): a group of citizen representatives that offer recommendations regarding groundwater programs to the Portage County Board
Portage County Groundwater Management Plan: a 1988 document that provides background information and recommendations for Portage County. The County with assistance from the PCGCAC is in the process of updating this plan with new goals and strategies. View the draft of our New Groundwater Management Plan!
