Mission:

To author, update, and implement the Groundwater Management Plan for Portage County.

 

Activities:

 

On a continuing basis, this Subcommittee:

bulletSets and revises groundwater management goals
bulletDevelops and revises strategies to achieve those goals
bulletAssesses and reports on progress towards those goals

In addition, the GMPI Subcommittee prepares an annual progress report, which serves as the revisions and updates to the Groundwater Management Plan. This report is presented to the Portage County Representatives (County Board) sharing the latest condition and prognosis of our groundwater.

 

Membership: Membership on all three subcommittees is open to any interested volunteer who is willing to actively participate in accomplishing the subcommittee's mission and activities. Persons interested in joining a subcommittee should ask the chairperson for permission to join. Current membership consists of about 15 members on the GMPI and PIE Subcommittees.

 

Member Duties:

 

Member duties include attending meetings prepared, reviewing/approving minutes, participating in accomplishing mission and activities, and recruiting new members.

 

Meetings:

The Groundwater Management Plan & Implementation Subcommittee usually holds joint meetings with the Public Involvement/Education Subcommittee every two-three weeks at 4:30pm at the Portage County Courthouse Annex (1462 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point).

Meetings are open to the public, so please join us and learn what we are doing to help manage groundwater.
