CTH J and R Detours

Additional Projects Scheduled for 2014

Project:  CR M (CR G – CR O)
Project Length:  1.74 miles
Project Description:  CR M will be reconstructed by excavating out approximately 2’ of clay sub base material and replacing with 2’ of sand.  The new road section will also consist of the existing pulverized asphalt base, 6” of new gravel base, and an asphalt driving surface.  Deficient culverts will be replaced.  Minor re-shaping of ditches and slopes will occur as needed.  The existing bridge on this highway will be widened utilizing a timber bridge deck extension system.  New signs and pavement markings will be installed.
Estimated Construction Date:  Tentatively scheduled for Fall 2014

Project:  CR R (CR HH – Porter Rd)
Project Length:  1.1 miles
Project Description:  CR R will be reconstructed from an existing narrow 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane roadway with a median.  The project begins near the R/HH intersection and extends to approximately 1000’ south of Porter Road.  A 5’ wide paved bike lane will be constructed in both directions on the roadway shoulder.  A 10’ wide multi-use path will also be constructed on the west side of the roadway for pedestrian & bicycle accommodations.

Estimated Construction Date: Project complete, road is open to traffic.

Project:  CR Z in Polonia (WI 66 – Edgewood Dr.)
Project Length:  5,600 feet (1.1 miles)
Project Description:  Pulverize existing asphalt pavement, replace deficient culvert pipes, add gravel as needed, shape base, asphalt paving, gravel shouldering, sign replacements, and pavement markings.
Construction Update:  Has begun June 2, 2014

Project:  CR J (WI 66 – CR CC)
Project Length:  16,685 feet (3.2 miles)
Project Description:  Pulverize existing asphalt pavement, replace deficient culvert pipes, add gravel as needed, shape base, asphalt paving, gravel shouldering, sign replacements, and pavement markings. Traffic will be detoured onto CR Y
Construction Update:  Has begun June 3, 2014. First binder coat has been applied. Second lift complete. Projected open date July 24, 2014.

Project:  CR X (Sunset Dr. to Marathon County Line)
Project Length:  31,807 feet (6.02 miles)
Project Description:  Pulverize existing asphalt pavement, replace deficient culvert pipes, add gravel as needed, shape base, asphalt paving, gravel shouldering, sign replacements, and pavement markings.
Construction Update:  Will start in 2014.
Estimated Construction Date: Late Summer/Early Fall 2014

Project:  2014 Chipseal
Project Description:  Approximately 60 miles of county highways will be chipsealed.  Deficient culverts will be replaced, cracks will be filled with rubber, and bumps will be repaired by asphalt wedging prior to chipseal work.  New pavement markings will be installed.  Please see map on Highway Department website for chipseal locations.
