DEWEY SHOOTING RANGE

 

ABOUT THE AREA

The Dewey Shooting Range, located six miles north of Stevens Point, Wisconsin is just one of 24 areas managed by the Portage County Parks department.  This 319 acre area not only has a public shooting range but also is a public hunting area.  The Shooting Range is adjacent to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 6,000 acre Dewey Marsh.

RANGE INFORMATION

The range was developed in 1986.  It provides a safe facility for firearms target practice.  

A 25, 50, 100, and 200 yard range exist for use by handguns, shotguns, and rifles.  Possession or discharge of any fully automatic gun or machine gun, or loading or discharging any firearm deemed unsafe by the range master, or loading or discharging any firearm with armor-piercing or incendiary ammunition is prohibited.

Opened daily including Saturday and Sunday        10 A.M.-4 P.M. until gun deer season


The shooting range is closed during any T-Zone hunting season.
