Information from the February 22, 2011 Planning and Zoning Committee Meeting

At their February 22nd meeting, the Portage County Planning and Zoning Committee held Public Hearings on the following items:

  • Proposed amendments to the Portage County Zoning Ordinance, including changes to the Conservancy District, creation of a new Rural Limited District, revisions to the Solid Waste Disposal Site definition, new text clarifying the creation of ponds in several Zoning Districts, and several other minor changes.
  • Proposed amendments to the Portage County Subdivision Ordinance, to clarify the use of certain reference maps.
  • A Modification from a Subdivision Ordinance regulation limiting the length of dead end roads to 1,000 feet, to address a unique situation existing in the Town of Hull.

Below you will find links to background reports prepared by Planning and Zoning Department staff for each of the Ordinances, as well as the proposed text amendments that were ultimately recommended by the Planning and Zoning Committee to the County Board for adoption.  The Zoning Ordinance amendments are split into two parts. Part 1 contains the Conservancy and Rural Development Zoning text; Part II contains the ponds, Solid Waste Disposal Site, and other text.

The County Board will take action on these items at their March 15, 2011 meeting, 5:00 pm in the Board Chambers in the County/City Building.

Links are also provided to the Modification staff reports, the Committee action to approve the request, and a graphic illustrating the request.  Modifications do not require further action by the Portage County Board.

As you read the Zoning or Subdivision drafts, please keep in mind that proposed new text is underlined, and text recommended for removal is stricken through. If you have any questions regarding the proposed language or revisions for either Ordinance or Modification, please contact Tracy Pelky, Chris Mrdutt or Chuck Lucht at 715-346-1334.
