Containers and Bottles:
Containers may be mixed. Rinse and remove caps. Do not crush cans.
Aluminum and steel cans (aerosol cans included)
Clear, Green and Brown Glass
#1 plastic bottles (clear, pale blue and green bottles only)
#2 plastics bottles & jugs (milk jugs, detergent bottles, shampoo bottles,
etc.)
Plastics: CHECK FOR A NECK! We only accept
plastic #1 & #2 bottles &
jugs with a threaded "neck" at the top.
No longer
accepted:
Wide-mouthed containers (tubs, cup, ice cream pails, etc.)
Papers:
Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phone books, corrugated cardboard, mixed
paper and office paper.
Bundle papers (i.e. in a paper bag), and bundle or tie cardboard. Cardboard pieces may be no bigger than 3' x
2' and should be flattened.
Special Items:
Used motor oil - store in a clear plastic container with tightly sealed screw cap.
Lead-acid (vehicle) batteries - handle carefully, may be placed in a small box.
Fluorescent Light bulbs
These are accepted for recycling at the Transfer Facility for a small
fee depending on size.
You may also bring small/ compact fluorescent bulbs to Frank's Hardware or
Menard's for
recycling.
Batteries:
All batteries to be recycled must be packaged for transportation in
a manner that prevents fires and explosions. Therefore,
each battery brought to the Transfer Facility for recycling
must be in a separate plastic bag or taped around the terminals/ends with electrician's tape.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED FOR RECYCLING:
Aluminum foil, pie tins, furniture or door pieces
Lids, covers or caps of any type
Mirrors, window glass, light bulbs, ceramics, clay pots, cookware, glassware, opaque glass, frosted glass
and pale tinted glass
Non-bottle plastic, dark blue or brown plastic bottles, motor oil or antifreeze containers, 5-gallon pails, plastic bags, plastic film, caps, covers, trays, toys,
utensils and Styrofoam
Plastics #3 - #7
Any plastic tub no matter what the number is!
