The Portage County Health and Human Services Employee Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of a scholarship opportunity. One scholarship was established as a memorial to Dr. Gus Hangiandreou. Dr. Hangiandreou was the Psychological Services Director at the Portage County Health and Human Services Department until his passing in 1995. Another scholarship was established as a memorial to Jane Shaurette. Jane Shaurette was a Public Health Nurse with the Department for over 30 years and served on the Employee’s Foundation until her passing in 2005.
Any full-time high school senior who has been accepted to a University, College, or Technical School, or any person currently attending or accepted to attend a University, College, or Technical School may apply. Applicants must be a Portage County resident. Applicants must be enrolled or intending to enroll for a minimum of 6 credits per semester. PCHHS Employees’ Foundation members and their immediate family are not eligible for this scholarship
For the Dr. Gus Scholarship - Applicants must be majoring in or planning to major in one of the following fields: social work, sociology, psychology, human services, or psychiatry.
For the Jane Shaurette Scholarship - Applicants must be majoring in or planning to major in one of the following fields: nursing, dietetics, health education, or environmental health.
If you are a previous recipient of this scholarship, you are not eligible to apply.
- Complete the application form for the scholarship and mail to the Foundation at Ruth Gilfry Center, 817 Whiting Avenue, Stevens Point, WI 54481.. Applications can be found by clicking here.
- Submit two letters of reference.
- Include a copy of your EFC/FAFSA information with your application.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
The selection of the recipients will be made by the Board of Directors based on community service, financial need, grade point average, letters of reference, and essay.
All scholarship applications must be received by April 5, 2019.
