HIGHWAY PROJECT NEWS RELEASE – For Immediate Release
CTH A BRIDGE OVER TOMORROW RIVER SCHEDULED TO BE REPLACED
The CTH A Bridge over the Tomorrow River in the Town of Amherst is an 81-year-old structure which is at the end of its service life and needs to be replaced. The existing bridge is considered structurally deficient and has multiple geometric features which are not up to current standards.
The proposed project will be approximately 500 feet in length and is located approximately 0.4 miles south of USH 10. Crews will construct a single span concrete bridge that is 34 feet wide. Improvements also include new railing and roadway approaches. This project is funded as part of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Local Bridge Improvement Assistance Program which helps rehabilitate and replace, on a cost-shared basis, the most seriously deficient existing local bridges on Wisconsin's local highway systems.
During construction, the bridge will be closed to traffic and a detour will be posted utilizing CTH A, CTH D, CTH Q, and CTH KK. In addition, the Tomorrow River will be closed for recreational access during construction for safety.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 15th and the project is scheduled for completion in June. Schedules are subject to change based on favorable weather conditions and construction status.
