About the SEU:
The Portage County Sheriff's Office Emergency Medical Services Division employees a professional team of part-time paramedics and other emergency medical technicians to man its Special Events Unit (SEU). This squad is responsible for attending events across Portage County where local emergency medical services need additional resources or cannot be dedicate themselves for the event. This is a more efficient deployment of EMS assets, rather than have a full ambulance on scene, subject to being called away in case of an emergency. This unit provides services free of charge to public and non-profit entities, and for a nominal charge for others.
