Portage County Transfer Facility Information
Portage County Waste Transfer Facility is located at 650 Moore Road in the Village of Plover just east of I-39 and north of County Hwy B next to the County's Material Recovery Facility.
All loads must be COVERED or completely enclosed within your vehicle during delivery. Uncovered loads may be refused or subject to a $10.00 surcharge. Please see our

Wear appropriate footwear, please no sandals or open-toed shoes. Broken glass and nails may be present on the Transfer Facility floor and surrounding pavement.
Solid Waste Department staff does not unload vehicles, please be prepared to unload your materials.
No one under the age of 16 is allowed outside of vehicles in the Transfer Facility.
No pets are allowed, all pets must remain in vehicles at all times while on Portage County Solid Waste Department property, including all parking lots.
Payment may be made by cash, check, credit card (VISA, Master Card, Discover) or through a previously authorized charge account
Solid Waste FAQ's & Fees
Does the MRF offer document shredding?
Yes, secure document shredding is available at the Portage County Recycling Center. A limit of three bank sized boxes may be brought at one time. There is a $5 per box fee.
How do I dispose of motor oil or antifreeze?
Motor oil and antifreeze are free to dispose of, but must be in containers 2.5 gallons or less with a closed cap. If you wish to have your container emptied and returned please call 715-346-1931 to make an appointment.

How do I dispose of Hazardous Materials?
Hazardous Materials are by appointment only. Call 715-346-1931 for appointments. This includes items such as: poisons (pesticides and herbicides), cleaners, paints, chemicals, gas, and aerosols. Program operates March through November. Fees apply.
What is the standard disposal rate?
$20 minimum charge for any load of 600 lbs. or less. Loads weighing more than 600 lbs. are subject to our standard rate of $65 per ton.
What items are not accepted?
Asbestos, medical waste (i.e. needles, medication) , items with radioactive materials (smoke alarms and exit signs) , pressurized tanks (i.e. propane tanks, fire extinguishers, helium tanks) , or yard waste (lawn clippings, leaves, branches, tree stumps, etc.)
